Our client approached MESA to design a new residence and accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on their 5 acre site that sits on a hill with a view of the La Plata mountains. The design challenge for us is to meld their ideal forever home with efficient space design to work within their budget. In addition to minimizing the footprint of the building, we’re designing with construction efficiency in mind. Simple forms and detailing, cost effective and low maintenance materials, and life-cycle considerations are central to the design decisions we’re making. We’ve also engaged the contractor and are working collaboratively throughout the design process.
